We are thrilled to announce that our project, Engagement via classical and quantum light waves, was accepted for funding by UKRI. Starting in early September, we will collaborate with researchers from Cardiff University to craft two unique kits for light interferometry. First kit embraces a hands-on approach with LEGO bricks suitable for use in classrooms, while the other one delves into the quantum realm of single photons. "Both interferometric systems will be completed by the end of this year and will feature in the interactive Science-Art exhibition Cosmic Titans that will run from January to April 2025 at the Djanogly Art Gallery in Nottingham," says Patrik Svancara, the project lead. This £110,000 project comes in hand with the recognition of 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology by UNESCO and the UN, as well as the 100th anniversary since Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schrödinger developed the first versions of quantum mechanics that remain a firm foundation of modern quantum science.
